The Royal Viking Star east-bound in the Panama Canal while her sistership, the Royal Viking Sky, headed west-bound, the first time two sisters ships transited the Panama Canal simultaneously, on May 1, 1976.

The Royal Viking Line was purchased by Norwegian Caribbean Line in 1986 and in 1994 Royal Viking Line was dissolved.

Royal Viking Star now sails as Black Watch while the Royal Viking Sun as the Boudicca, so the ships still sail, but under different names.
