Re: Catching up

Oh, wow, what a blast from the pasr. My husband and I both remember Coke dispensers like that.

Re: Merry Christmas 2025

Those are impressive pictures.

For us the trouble wasn't the snow but the ice. And the fact that the temps rarely got above freezing all week. School was canceled all week long. We're getting off and on flurries all day and overnight into tomorrow. Lows this weekend will be single digits.

We've ...

Re: Little Halloween this Friday.

I think kids do keep you young. I felt old at 30 and fretted about aging, but from the time I had my first child at 34, I never gave that a thought again. Now if only my own kids would get busy and bring on the grandchildren! When I was young I was so proud of being a top student and earning a PhD ...

Re: Little Halloween this Friday.

Lol! I think it was very common in the Bible Belt to shove Sunday Halloweens off to Saturday. I grew up with that in Mississippi. Even during my kids' childhood, it was common to encounter folks of an evangelical bent who were extremely uncomfortable with the whole thing. Churches around here ...

Re: Halloween.Com Members Birthday!

That's funny. I can't imagine forgetting my birthday, though I can certainly understand not making a thing of it.

Re: Merry Christmas 2025

Lol. That photo.

So glad your family liked the bread. Most people do.

We have a neice who's allergic to nuts, so we got into the habit of leaving them out. Also my own daughter didn't like them as a child, though she'll eat them now. The bread is good either way.

We're still surviving here in ...

Re: Little Halloween this Friday.

That's true, I guess. In the South, historically, Sunday ToT has been moved to Saturday. However, in recent years Sundsy ToT has become a thing. There was one year, the first time the authorities left it up to the community to decide, I took my kids both nights. We went to two different parts of ...

Re: Halloween.Com Members Birthday!

Well, mine is so close to Christmas that extra celebration often seems superfluous. Over the years we have often gone out to dinner and a movie, but not always.

When is your birthday, HH?

Re: Merry Christmas 2025

Thanks, Andy. So far it's not too bad, but the test will be tonight. Our local forecast has been revised downward In terms of accumulation, but it all depends on how much ice mixes with the snow.

Re: Little Halloween this Friday.

Yes, if Feb starts on a Sunday, March will start on a Sunday.

And if November also starts on Sunday, that means Halloween falls on Saturday.

Re: Merry Christmas 2025

Right now they're saying the storm will start in the night and switch back and forth all day tomorrow--snow, ice, snow, sleet, snow, freezing rain. If it turns into an ice storm there will be widespread power outages, so don't be too surprised if I go dark for a while.

The kicker is we're staying ...

Re: Catching up

That's such a wonderful story! I think your idea of having "50s Nights" will be a big hit with the younger crowd. And lucky Phoebe, having such a great birthday venue in her dad's restaurant! Your girls are so blessed. It makes me feel good to read about your family's success.
