Spot any new Halloween decorations for 2024?

Post by MauEvig » Sun Jul 14, 2024 9:29 pm

It looks like Home Depot is ahead of the game. I believe these were posted on Instagram back in April.

That monster thing with the glowing rib cage looks really cool. I'd like to get that for my own home haunt. But I bet it's expensive so...lol

Apparently they did a "Halfway to Halloween" event.

Anyway, if you've spotted anything new for the season please feel free to share it here!

That is a fabulous display for sure, but, yeah, I bet it's pricey. Maybe a person could get it marked down in November? Or even by mid-October.

That would be the smart thing to do, wait and see if any of those are marked down.
Of course if you want something bad enough, you have to snag it up or it's gone. That's what I've found anyway. It's all about if you're willing to pay the price.
But if it's in the $100's or more, it better be something that's going to last a long time and be worth the price tag.
Otherwise, I'm sticking with dollar store decorations, or making my own. Or thrift store shopping.
I really need to get back into doing crafts, but I just haven't had the energy for it.
My boyfriend did get me this cute metal sign on Temu for Christmas that portrays Jack and Sally from the Nightmare before Christmas as cats. It's really cute and staying up year round. It says "The Nightmeow Before Christmas" and it's just adorable.
Temu does have some nice things, but I haven't broke down and got anything from them myself. I will say they're legit, but I recommend using them for things like knick-knacks and not for electronics.

But I will say I found a few things I like from them:

These black cats look so realistic with their eerie eyes!

These glow in the dark tomb stones look cool, but I wonder how well they work...

And these were my favorite things I've seen so far:

This wreath is gorgeous, and I especially love how it lights up. There's an orange and black variety on the website as well, but violet is more my color:

And these are just cute:

They kind of have an old timey vintage-like charm to them.

That sign sounds really cute!

Last Christmas someone in our neighborhood went Jack and Sally for their yard decor.

The nice thing about the Nightmare before Christmas is that it's appropriate for both Christmas and Halloween. :) It's something I think people who love both holidays can definitely appreciate.
When my mom and step dad got married, they had that movie playing in the background. It's really grown in popularity over the years, and now you can find all kinds of Nightmare Before Christmas stuff. I found them a nice cook book and pop figure ornaments with Jack and Sally one year and sent it to them. The pop figures were meant to be an anniversary gift I think, and the cook book a Christmas present. But with the cost of shipping I ended up sending everything together. When I send anything to my family, I try to do it all at once for that reason.
I did find myself a couple little metal Christmas stakes last year with Jack Skellington marked down after Christmas. I'll be sure to put them up if I can find them in storage.

Here's the image of it hanging on my wall:

I saw this while shopping this morning, and thought it was a remake.

Sadly it's a board game.

Aww, well it appears to be based on the cartoon classic Ichabod, which we have on dvd. It is actually the most faithful adaptation of Washington Irving's story I've ever encountered.

To watch the Disney classic is like the story unfolding as you read the book.

I have the DVD and saved on two streaming services.

It is my go-to for Halloween viewing year 'round.

I also enjoy 'Sleep Hallow' because no one does creepy fun like Tim Burton.

Oh, I love the Depp/Burton Sleepy Hollow. It's like a jazz riff on the original, but I enjoy it immensely on its own terms.

Honestly that board game does look like a lot of fun. Maybe if you have some family over, you could set it up and play some fun Halloween games.
Another good game for Halloween is werewolf. The entire game revolves around finding out who the werewolf is before he/she "kills" the other player characters. There's also a seer who can look at other people's cards to try to reveal who the werewolf is.
I'm sure there's tons of Halloween themed games out there.
"Stupid Deaths" is another fun one, it's a trivia game where you have to out run the reaper.

I found some really cool grim reapers that have a band set up, one with a guitar, one with drums and one with a keyboard at Lowe's. They have blue tooth, so you can hook up your own music to it. I tell you what, technology has become really innovative with the introduction of blue tooth and I think it's really cool.

Unfortunately it's really pricy. If I consider getting them, I'll be waiting for a nice mark down on them. The one with the guitar is my favorite.

I'll post the links here if anyone's interested:

https://www.lowes.com/pd/Haunted-Living ... 5014114177

https://www.lowes.com/pd/Tekky-73-23-in ... 5014928501

Lowes has great stuff for Halloween. Unfortunately, a bit out of my price range right now though.
If I double my income and become a full fledged teacher...maaaaaaybe that'll change. I'd love to get those and rock to some Disturbed or some my other favorite metal bands.

Edit: If they're going to call themselves "Don't Fear the Reapers" then they really missed an opportunity to play "Don't Fear The Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult...
