We are under 100 days now! We just bought our first house and I have been dreaming about how I will get it set up for the big day. Crate and Barrel, while too expensive, has their fall stuff out on their website. Fun just to window shop!

I had a terrible nightmare last night. It was so vivid and real, I woke up shaking. I was walking along, and I realized I was wearing a cape. It suddenly occurred to me that I was wearing a cape because it was Halloween night. It was just getting dark, it was around 6pm, and I realized I hadn't put up any orange lights or any decorations. I realized I hadn't bought any candy for trick or treaters, and I could see them outside approaching the door. I had to get to the store to buy some candy, but what kind?!?!?

"Dad, that's not a nightmare" my older daughter told me at dinner tonight when I shared my dream. "Now I'll tell you my nightmare" my three year old said. "Once upon a time, there was a big scary rabbit, and it ate up you and Mommy and all of us! And then Gareth (our dog) jumped into it's mouth and saved us!"

"That's a scary dream," I told the little one, "but mine was a very scary nightmare too."

"Lame, Dad." says older daughter. Ahh, but to be ten again, and to know absolutely everything about everything. And also to be the final judge and arbiter of coolness. That's what being ten is all about. To be oblivious to the feeling of being totally unprepared; to be free from obligation and responsibility.

Halloween is a RESPONSIBILITY. There are rules, dammit!

Ciuin and I will just have to do better. We can be stricter. No more greenbeans until all the Reese's are eaten.

I knew you all would understand.

If I understand their relationship, she probably spends her days housekeeping in her starched skirts and day pearls, tending to the little ones and waits with a martini in hand for her man at the end of his busy day.

QVC is hawking outdoor Halloween decor right now.

Mostly LED figures which aren't my favorite but, I'll take what I can get at the beginning of August.

I picked these up today from Joannes Fabrics.

5, 4 & 3 dollars each regular, with %40 off...so whatever that comes to.

I also got a pair of orange plaid curtains, because autumn. :P

The trees are a copper glitter that the photo doesn't do justice to.

But they're awesome in person. :)

There is a YouTube channel called every episode of Newhart in order, and I clicked on this one today and it put me right in the Halloween mood.

https://youtu.be/-FyQtpWoyZg

My favorite episode, although not technically Halloween, is season 1 episode 2, 'Mrs. Newton's Body lies a-mouldering in the Grave.'

It is when we first meet Larry and his brother Darryl and his other brother Darryl.
