My gf and I have been on and off since almost 13 years. But we are just doing fine.

Would you all believe 28 years here? As of last Oct. 24.


I think we managed to go out to eat once in Dec., when college son was still away, high school son was at a wrestling match, and daughter was at Girl Scouts. When they found out a few weeks later that we'd been out to eat without them, they were flabbergasted.

Oh, and Witchy, I googled the chocolate-dipped strawberries. Sounds simple enough. I think I'm going to do that.

My grandparents just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and I asked grandma what their secret was.

"Well, in that whole time we never even once thought about divorce." she said.

"We thought about murder a lot, but never divorce."

I don't think we think about murder. We are very tolerant of each other, and we laugh a lot. Even when things are not good, we find something to laugh about.

I would add that we also respect each other, and we enjoy each other's conversation.

I guess I'm going to have to lower my standards then.

I expect nothing as far as material things. Respect, honesty and loyalty are all I require.
