Cozumel Excursion

On our excursion to Cozumel our fearless leader chose the Mayan Ruins. At first the kids did not seem too pleased but once there, it was great. Our tour guide, Alex, was so funny and knew so much about the Mexican government and Mayan History.
Once off the ship, we were put into an air conditioned bus (which was much needed). It took about 45 minutes for us to get to the ruins and once there, we got a tour of everything. From the priest homes to the fertility "spa" area and actual tombs (the bodies have been removed, my son asked). It was very hot but a quick rain shower cooled things off immensely. We got a history of the famous Mayan Calendar (Alex does not believe the world is ending in 2012) and got to see some very large Iguana’s roaming around the temples. The tour also included a stop to a small village that had not only a Mayan Temple but a Catholic Church next door. It was quite interesting. Bring some cash because there are several shops that are more than willing to help you by something to remember your trip. The kids had a great time and actually talked about what they had learned and if they believed the world was going to end in 2012 (the only boy does). Bring water because even though Alex offers water, it is not enough for the long day.
