Anything special that you have found should be packed for a cruise, but one wouldn’t ordinarily think of?

Obviously you want to pack things like:
      1. Passport
      2. Clothing
      3. Cameras
      4. Medicine
      5. Toiletries like toothbrush, toothpaste

But, have you found things that are handy extras to have?

Do you think people should just pack US Dollars and change them at the destination (IF NEEDED)? That would be my advice because most of the ports visited by the Disney ships accept dollars.

yes! Also remember that the ports will give you the currency of the country our are in ex. ATMs in Mexico will give pesos. I seem to recall one guest at the port in Cozumel went to an ATM just outside the terminal typed in a hundred dollars and was shocked that she received a hundred pesos which is ten dollars! Save ourself from embarassment and learn the currency!

For a week long cruise, you may want to pack some laundry detergent and some quarters for the washing machine/dryer. It can get a little crowded in the laundry room, a good time to go is when everyone is disembarking the ship at port. :)

Those are good tips – quarters and laundry detergent for longer cruises are important if you think you may want to do some laundry.

I believe that on the Disney Magic (and Wonder and presumably other cruise ships) you can send your laundry out and have them do it for an additional charge.

If anyone is interested, I have put together a pretty good list of items to do and pack prior to going on your cruise.

It’s a PDf document called "The Cruise Checklist"

                  It’s available Free at http://4u2bn.com/kj10

Any feedback on items to add would be great. It is from a man’s perspective so any additions from females would be welcome (male’s additons too).

Thanks and hope you like it.

Be sure and pack at least one nice dinner outfit. Usually one night is designated at "dress up" and they may from upon shorts and/or flip flops. I don’t know if they would ask you to leave and put something else on but save yourself (and your party) from embarrassment and go ahead and pack a nice outfit. It doesn’t have to be too dressy and uncomfortable, just tasteful.

Having a small first aid kit that has band aids, antibiotic ointment and such is very handy-along with hand sanitizer and a small bottle of several medicines in one (such as tylenol, aleve, etc) so you do not have to take so many bottles.

Also add Benadryl and maybe a small thing of vinegar. If you are snorkeling or swimming in the ocean and get stung by a jelly fish, you will need those two things.

Very true! And for those allergic and carry Epi Pens and such, don’t forget those!! My fiance has one and we forgot it last time-luckily the Benadryl sufficed for that trip…

That is good you had the Benadryl!

For dirty clothes, pack a trash bag because the laundry bags they leave in the room are never sturdy enough. There is nothing worse than dirty clothes being thrown around the cabin or not knowing what is clean or dirty.
