Disney Cruise NEW Coronavirus policy allowing full refund for future cruises

Disney Cruise’s new policy from today

Guests scheduled to sail between now and May 31, 2020, can now change their reservation up until the day before embarkation and receive a 100% cruise credit to be used for a future sailing within 12 months of their original sail date by calling the telephone number above. The credit is non-refundable and standard prevailing rates will apply. 

Given the uncertainties for people sailing this spring this was a wise change for Disney.

Without clear policies as to what happens to guests on a quarantined ship – as is shown in California the last few days – Disney needed to address this.

Disney Cruise Line changes Fantasy destination to St Lucia instead of Martinique

Today Disney Cruise Line announced they are changing the July 1, 2020 destination for the Disney Fantasy from Martinique to St. Lucia due to changes in the Martinique passport requirements.

Martinique is very nice, having been there twice on the Fantasy, but this is the first trip to St. Lucia for the Fantasy.

St. Lucia is nice also, and the Pitons worth seeing, but the port itself isn’t as cruise friendly as Martinique in my view. I guess well see!

We are writing to provide you with important information regarding your June 27, 2020, 9-night sailing aboard the Disney Fantasy.

We recently became aware that Martinique now requires all Guests going ashore have a passport. Knowing the impact this change will have on our Guests without passports, we have made the decision to visit Castries, St. Lucia instead of Fort-de-France, Martinique on July 1, 2020. St. Lucia boasts mountainous peaks, lush rainforests and breathtaking vistas. We know our Guests will enjoy this popular port.

Shower heads on Disney Cruise Line – #Disney Fantasy #Cruise

The Disney Fantasy’s showers (at least on some decks) are essentially identical to the shower heads on the Disney Dream.  One of the somewhat minor upgrades over the “classic” ships was the addition of rain shower heads.  (As an aside, anyone know if the recent re-imaginations of the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic added similar shower heads?).  Anyway, the brand of the shower heads is Hansgrohe and there are places to buy online and probably locally.   After trying them in 2011 on the Dream, and again in 2012 on the Fantasy, we did upgrade from a regular shower head to large Hansgrohe. It is quite nice, and something I did myself.  Depending on your bathroom configuration, you might be able to do it also, or you might have to hirer a plumber.

Disney Fantasy USB charging for iPhone and Android etc – Disney Cruise

The May 2017 Disney Fantasy dry dock brought some welcome upgrades to the Disney Cruise line stateroom charging situation.  Instead of having to carry chargers about, the staterooms we saw (this one was on Deck 9) now include a clock radio with two USB charging ports  and a wall plug that provides 2.1 amps and 1.05 amps.

The Disney Wonder has similar usb chargers on the wall, but they are 3.1 amps.

Don’t forget the cable to connect your iOS/iPhone/iPad, Android or other device to the wall!

The Disney Fantasy in Tortola – #DisneyCruise #Tortola

Nearing the end of the first 11 night Disney Fantasy cruise, it arrived in Tortola!  Yet another mid-80s day, with beautiful weather.  It turned out that with the exception of the second & third nights where there were a little bit of rough seas, the weather was just about perfect for the cruise.

Disney Fantasy in #Martinique for the first time #disneycruise #Fantasy

The Disney Fantasy headed to Martinique next for the first time.  Another beautiful day with temperatures in the mid 80s and some early cloud-cover.  Even walking distance from the ship there were things to see and do, including a library with some very old books, museums and churches.

Disney Fantasy in #Aruba for the first time #DisneyCruise

Here is the view from/of the Disney Fantasy in Aruba for the first time, June 20, 2017.  It was a beautiful day.  Mid-80s as is often the case and humid, a little rain shower for a few minutes, but all in all, the tugboats welcomed the Fantasy as did the Aruba.
