Gustav has strengthened to hurricane strength overnight with additional strengthening predicted. The prediction cone can be seen at http://hurricane.com/ and it could impact cruises in the area from Key West to Grand Cayman to Cozumel.
Hurricane Gustav has continued to strengthen and now has winds of 145 mph, making it a category 4 hurricane. Cruise lines are, of course, moving their ships out of the storms way as needed.
Gustav has weakened after passing over Cuba which is good news for everyone in its path. Models still show it re-strengthening, but a weaker storm for longer is a positive, particularly for the cruise industry.
From the latest satellite photos, it does look like its organization has improved, the 8pm or 11pm advisories may confirm that.
