I knew I wanted to go to Disney but didn’t want a Disney cruise. My brother being a crusie director but us on the NCL Spirit. They were wonderful even before I got on the ship I had alot of questions and wanted my child’s first cruise to be perfect. So I called them, alot.
It was so easy to get on the ship, and we went right to our balcony room and were in the pool in 15 minutes. On Carnival my friends and I were allowed on the ship but we only could stay by the kids pool and buffet until our rooms were ready and we were there for an hour.
I am a swimmer, so the pool is an important place for me. And the pool on the Spirit was very, very large. The music there was Caribbean and the CD (Julie) put people in the mood to dance. She also had alot of games going on at the pool each day. She had away with people. The main pool on the Carnival Miracle was 4’6 I choose to go to the adult pool but all the music and food were at the 4’6 pool. Why they would have adult games at pool with kids I have no idea.
Freestyling worked for us because we were traveling with my daughter. We eat in different restuarants each night and they were all great. We eat Breakfast in the buffet and it was one straight line very easy to find what you wanted. This wasn’t the story on The Miracle. I don’t really care what time I eat dinner if I am with my friends, which I did this year. If you need to eat at a certain time nice to know you can do that.
Getting off the ship at the end of the NCL cruise was easy and fast. This wasn’t the story on The Miracle alot of upset people couldn’t find there luggage.
I plan on traveling on the NCL Dawn next Summer. And they will always be the first cruiseline I consider in my furture.

The Norwegian Dawn used to sail from Port Canaveral and my then 4 and 5 year old (this was May 2003) and I went down to see the Mars Rover launches and went up to the marsh right near Port Canaveral – across from where the Norwegian Dawn was docked and near where the Magic and Wonder dock. They liked the launch and the cruise ship, so we got home and booked a 4 night Disney Wonder cruise. They kept discussing the "Norwegian Dawn" though, with the Wonder, because they were right there when we were watching the rocket and were just amazed at how large the Norwegian Dawn was. They still mention it occasionally, so it definitely brings back good memories.
I had not sailed on the Disney Cruise Line before that and was a little skeptical, kind of afraid it would be "too much." But we have done several on DCL now and have loved each one.
Regarding the pool, you might be able to see the pool size on the NCL web site.
I swam myself from when I was about 9 through college, but don’t really try to do anything like that on the ships. Ashore, snorkeling etc it is good exercise, but haven’t tried on board.
