This past weekend we stayed at Disney’s Polynesian Village at Walt Disney World Resort. We have stayed at this particular resort many times before but this particular was not what was expected. Usually the Polynesian has the best of the best working the front desk. This visit was the exception. Our front desk clerk spoke little English (Daniella) which made our check in that usually takes around 5 minutes take a total of 12-13 but it didn’t stop there. We had to ask our clerk for a parking pass (so our car would not be ticketed or towed) and she said "It is on your card." We told her no, a paper pass for our car and she said "oh" and it took her 3 minutes to get it. Once we got to our room, we could not enter. We had 2 rooms that connected but no keys for the adults and no key for the connecting room. We entered one room, unable to get into the other because the connecting doors were locked. I called the front desk explaining the problem, the gentleman assured me he would have the keys ready for us when we walked the 6 minutes back to the front desk on our way to our dinner (our reservations were at 5:20, we would have been 10 minutes early if everything had gone smoothly). we got to the front desk expecting our keys, no one knew what we were talking about. While one of us explained to the front desk what had happened and I went to the concierge to see if we could change our dinner reservations (which we could not because the size of our party 2 adults and 5 children). The process of re-issuing the keys took about 20 minutes so we missed our dinner reservations because it takes 15 minutes to get there. Of course everyone was quite upset and hungry. I went back to the front desk and spoke to the manager on duty, Sara ( from New Castle) and she was wonderful and helpful. I explained everything and she understood and was personable and friendly. I told her we were going to order room service, she took care of that charge. The food was WONDERFUL, probably better than the restaurant we were going to go to in the first place. Also helpful, were the two women assisting Sara (Debra from st. Andrews and Valena who just recently came from Hawaii). They smiled the entire time and were very patient especially because they were cleaning up someone else’s mess. When all of this first happened, I knew my family would NEVER stay there again but because of Sara, Valena, and Debra, that will be the first place I check for availability. They were awesome.
