I was on the Miracle with my 4 friends on 8/13. Always have cruised on NCL I thought this year I would do a Carnival cruise and I also loved the ports it was going to. The first thing that annoyed me was that we were all cattled in at once just to sit by the pool and eat. Our rooms wouldn’t have been ready for another 2 hours. Okay, I let that one go. Then we go to the pool and it only goes to 4’6 this had to be the kid pool right? wrong! this pool was the main pool it had all the food, drink, music and games. We finally found the adult pool that was 5 foot but no music no bar and if you wanted to eat you had to walk awhile to get it. This pool was 7 feet long (I asked) No one could swim in it all you could do is stand and get bummed into. Not to mention all the adult games were at the 4 foot pool were there were children. My 10 year old could have desgined a better pool what was Carnival thinking when they build this pool? 2500 guests and you have a pool for maybe 10 people?
I have always cruised on NCL and now I stayed with them. Especially after hearing what happened today if I would have spent my 3 grand just to go to Fla and R.I after I purchased insurance I would have sued.

That does not sound like a good design and that is quite a long time to wait for rooms. The rooms should be ready within 60-90 minutes of the first passenger boarding, at the latest, so most people have to wait no time or at most 30 minutes. How long was your Carnival Miracle cruise? What NCL ships have you sailed on?I was on the Miracle with my 4 friends on 8/13. What WAS Carnival Thinking? You seem to really like NCL so in our Norwegian Cruise Line Forum , would you mind posting a review of one of their ships?September 8, 2008 at 8:56 pm #687AnonymousInactiveThank you for your replys. I have only cruised 3 times but my brother is a cruise director so I am cruise educated I was on the NCL Spirit and Crown. I wanted a change so I went with Carnival this year and I also wanted to see St Thomas it was an 8 day cruise. I do think that they whole NCL experience is better than the Carnival one. The NCL CD was everywhere we even joked about this but Brett on the CM I only saw on stage. The room though was wonderful and we did have a great time we were just shocked about why a cruise ship would have such a small pool and eatting on a cruise ship isn’t everyone’s first piority.

Oh , I see. What Cruise does your Brother work for? St. Thomas must of been beautiful!!!!September 8, 2008 at 9:24 pm #689AnonymousInactiveHe works for himself, he owns a travel agency in NYC. I have already decided I will be on the Dawn to Bermuda next Summer. I just felt like NCL really apprecaited my business more than Carnival did. And I love Freestyling.

That sounds like fun!September 8, 2008 at 10:36 pm #692AnonymousInactiveI haven’t been on Carnival and haven’t been intending to. I’ve been on a number of other ships, but right now my favorites are the Disney ships, even from an adult perspective. They are nicely kept up and appointed throughout. Plus my kids love them so everyone wins.
That is cool about your brother. We are going to do an Eastern Caribbean cruise next summer, along with a Western Caribbean. It is going to be wonderful!

When I read what happened on the Miracle this week I felt so bad for the crew that didn’t get any tips. I gave them extra money because I thought they really went out of their way for us. The weather is no one’s fault, but don’t people buy insurance so if the weather is bad you can cancel your cruise that is why I pay it?
September 10, 2008 at 1:38 am #702AnonymousInactiveI usually do the insurance myself, but have yet to use it. For me, the variety in weather is part of the fun. We were in the Pacific once when I was about 10 and there was a hurricane to the west of us and the waves were huge! The pools were sloshing, people were sick, but it was a big part of the adventure.
I like the variety myself, but you are right, the crew can’t control the weather and they suffer as much as the rest of us when it is poor.
The insurance may pay for itself eventually, hopefully not, but that is just like fire insurance and life insurance – you don’t want them to pay.
Regarding the pools on the other Carnival ships, I don’t know. My ex took my two girls on a Carnival ship that left from Jacksonville FL and they thought they were fine – they were 8 and 7 at the time of course.

January 27, 2009 at 2:31 pm #966AnonymousInactiveThat is too bad about no tips, those people usually work so hard and the weather is not there fault. Unless someone is just ignoring their job or treating me like they are doing me a favor, I do tip.
